In what looks like another sign of the restaurant industry’s deep slump, seven Popeyes fried chicken outlets on the South Side suddenly closed within the past week. Popeyes is working with the franchisee who owns the seven outlets, trying to get them re-opened, said Alicia Thompson, a spokeswoman for the Atlanta-based firm that owns Popeyes. She called the closings "temporary."One of these Popeye's I do believe is located on 95th & King Drive. In fact the address is listed at 346 E. 95th St.
The seven restaurants are owned by Georgia-based THG Restaurant Group. Company officials there didn’t return calls. Thompson declined to elaborate on why the South Side Popeyes outlets shut down.

It'sinteresting that they ALL are on the SOUTH side of Chicago...none on the west or North.
ReplyDeleteAlso, from my experience, all of the south side Popeye's are Cash Only. In fact, the 95th St one , when going through the drive thru, said "Welcome to the 95th St Cash Only Popeye's".
Why is that the case, when other Popeye's accept credit cards? What's up with that?
I would've thought credit cards would be SAFER for businesses, especially if they got robbed, or cash mysteriously disappears.
Perhpas we shall find out...
