Low-performing schools will receive the majority of Chicago Public Schools’ federal stimulus funds over the next two years, Chief Executive Officer Ron Huberman said Tuesday.
Chicago schools will receive $368 million from the stimulus package, according to CPS.
"We will have $7 million in additional dollars specifically for technology; $261 million to pump money into our lower-achieving schools with tutoring programs, professional development for our teachers and after-school programs; and we’ll have an additional $100 million to spend on special education funding," Huberman said.
"Seeing dollars like that is simply historic," he said, crediting the new Obama administration’s leadership.
